BEGINNER BLOGGERS: HOW TO START A KILLER INSTAGRAM ACCOUNT

20 décembre 2016

wallace_yolicia_style-bloggers_switzerland-how_to_wear_black_lace_ruffle_lsleeve_blouse-black_denim_button_skirts_2016Let’s be clear: social media has become a partner in crime channel for any brands or bloggers from different niche to connect with their customers, blog readers or followers. Therefore, if your target audience might love visuals, you can’t afford ignoring some particular platforms like Instagram. In fact, among all these social media platforms, Instagram is still generating the highest user engagement for established bloggers or brands. It is thus, a terrific opportunity to engage with your audience as the business there, belongs to the fashion, travel or food industry.

This said, when you start at the very beginning, one of the most influential factors to a good Instagram account is having a memorable, yet easy username. Be careful that the name isn’t something you’ll be struggling to remember — make an impression straight away by having an account name that will keep people talking. Once you’re familiar with the app, you can begin to build and establish your Instagram goals. These goals could be something like maintaining a regular posting schedule, without bombarding your followers with too many posts. Remember: these goals you set for your Instagram strategy should all be achievable and measurable.

Secondly, be careful about the good quality photos you take. In fact, some of you ask me frequently what is missing on their Instagram feed, and most of the time it appears to be photo quality— This doesn’t mean your work is bad, but I’m pretty certain you will improve in the meantime. For instance, avoid pictures taken in the dark where nobody can see, or in low light on a poor quality camera, they will never come out well. However, you don’t have to break the bank for a good camera, most smartphones these days are quite snazzy, but if you want a separate piece of kit, you can go for simple cameras with great lenses, zoom and focus (I’m using Nikon D3200 camera with 50mm lens for my indoor and home Instagram pictures). Therefore, to keep your account aesthetically appealing, make a decision on either you use a consistent filter on your images, or no filter at all. Otherwise, if your feed is a miss-match of black and white then highly saturated, then limited exposure picture, your Instagram impact won’t be as great when people find you.

Thirdly, pay attention to hashtags, they are the language in which Instagram users speak. In fact, you don’t need to worry about hashtag fatigue on Instagram because more hashtags equates to more comments, likes and interaction on your photos. So, to you find relevant hashtags to add to every post, think about the similar process to perform keyword research — catch up most relevant hashtags that are used in other bloggers updates. Another smart trick is to integrate less popular hashtags in your posts, so you’ll appear at the top of the search feeds for them. It’s low-competition hashtag but yet useful for your Instagram account. All in all, whether you want to insta blog about, you can also use your Instagram like a visual journal to talk with your readers about what’s going on in your daily life, or showing them the behind-the-scenes stuff they don’t get to see on your blog. Certainly, being a nameless and faceless account could be good up to a certain point, but sooner or later people can get bored of your pictures marble table and phone case with no caption. This is why, telling a story, being engaging, witty, and kind by giving useful tips through your pictures, could make your Instagram account stands out from the crowd.
