I took the opportunity to bring today a self-acceptance topic in collaboration with Esprit for their new #ImPerfect Campaign. My beloved friend and blogger Stephanie, who’s standing by my side, has been part of those people who make you realize that your imperfections are actually what make you beautiful.  All of our little imperfections that we focus on negatively, instead we should use them to stand out, to celebrate them as the natural beauty and individual style that reflects our confidence and unique form of self-expression. Unfortunately, we strive for more, when we already have everything. We want nicer clothes, cooler gadgets, bigger muscles, flatter stomachs or bigger houses. However, have you ever considered that doing things, not because you want to be better, but because it gives you joy, because you’re passionate about it, because it’s a miracle that you even can do it could be in fact a form of freedom? Being content with yourself means realizing that striving for perfection is based on someone else’s idea of what “perfect” is. But perfect is who you are, not who someone else says you should be.

Appreciate to be original in your own way. There’s an infinite amount of things that make you perfect, not the perfect image people project you to make themselves more admirable. Instead, always be surrounded with people who care about you as they are willing to let you be imperfect and beautiful. Otherwise, you’ll end  having an image of yourself that you want other people to adopt. You’ll think people are expecting that of you or would like you better if that’s who you were and finally you’ll pretend to be that person. Over time, you’ll put on layers of protection to prevent people from seeing the imperfections that would undermine that perception. As a result you’ll refuse to admit to those imperfections and may also blame others, the weather, or fate for any perceived failure—anything but yourself. However, when you understand how you experience to love your imperfections, to love who you are, you can serve yourself better and teach others your needs. Thinking something is wrong with us is the biggest problem we face. Despite, the persistence of the lack of self-acceptance, it has positive benefits. Understand that it’s not a case of stagnating into thinking ‘this is just the way I am and I can’t change’. But to know you are still growing and to fully accept yourself as multi-dimensional. From now, you can stop trying to ‘fix’ yourself as you aren’t broken but just perfectly imperfect and powerful beyond measure.

As far as I’m concerned, there’s a powerful realization that has helped me : You’re already good enough, you already have more than enough, and you’re already perfect. Indeed, you are enough as you are, mess and all, beautiful and broken, showing up for your life every day. That’s all you have to be and all you have to do. You’re already enough. you don’t have to strive to become more worthy, more valid, more acceptable, or more loved. You already are all of those things. When you know you are enough, it’s easier to ask for help. It’s easier to admit your weaknesses. You know that your imperfections and your difficulties don’t reflect on your worth, because you are already enough, just as you are. Don’t be afraid to make mistakes, your strengths and weaknesses are both sides of your personality that make the person you are and the person who can be loved.
